I think it might be better for the project if we just went ahead and bought 3 stepper motors. We would be garanteed that they would be the same. It would eliminate a great deal of headache down the road. Why make things harder for ourselves than it has to be.
@Eric: It ought to be "easy enough" to find three of the same model dot-matrix printer in the abundance of cast-offs available... The salvaged motors might not be the same make/model, but they'd certainly meet the same specs.
That would be great, then nevermind.
